Superior Performance Inclined Plate Settlers at SJWD Water District

Meurer Research, Inc. (MRI) releases a new video showcasing the design and benefits of their Inclined Plate Settlers, demonstrated at the Startex-Jackson-Wellford-Duncan (SJWD) Water District in Lyman, SC. The video provides a detailed comparison between MRI’s plate settlers and a competing technology operating in a separate basin at the same plant, utilizing comparative data, video footage, and images to highlight the advantages of MRI’s system.

Inclined Plate Settler technology is critical for the efficient settling of floc and solids, enhancing the capacity of water treatment facilities within a compact footprint. This technology is essential for the optimal operation and maintenance of downstream plant processes. However, not all plate settlers deliver the same performance.

The video presents third-party data collected over four seasons, demonstrating that MRI’s plate settlers consistently outperformed the competition. Key highlights include the avoidance of turbidity spikes, which can negatively impact membranes, and the delivery of smoother operational trends. MRI’s Flow Control Deck, with its strategic distribution holes, aids in creating the necessary headloss for even flow and seamless operation. Furthermore, the use of MRI’s Hoseless Cable-Vac™ Sludge Collectors in both basins effectively removes settled solids without disturbing the settling zone, resulting in cleaner clarified water, reduced turbidity, and cost savings.
