Hoseless Cable-Vac Sludge Collector

Sludge Collector

The MRI Hoseless Cable-Vac Sludge Collector offers an advanced, efficient, and reliable solution for sludge removal in water treatment plants. Its innovative operating principle and key components, including the tandem header pipes, telescoping sludge conduit, shared-reel drive, flow balancing ring, non-clog orifices, front scraper, and integrated local control module, ensure thorough sludge removal, simplified maintenance, and enhanced overall performance.

The MRI Hoseless Cable-Vac™ Sludge Collector is an advanced system designed for efficient and reliable removal of settled solids in various water treatment applications. Here’s how it operates:

Principle of Operation

Key Steps:

Influent Entry and Distribution

  • Water containing suspended solids enters the basin.
  • The influent is evenly distributed across the basin to prevent short-circuiting and ensure uniform sludge accumulation.

Settling and Sludge Accumulation

  • As the water flows through the basin, suspended solids settle to the bottom.
  • The unique design of the MRI Hoseless Cable-Vac™ ensures that even the final two feet of settled solids, often missed by other systems, are collected effectively.

Sludge Collection Mechanism

  • The system employs a hoseless cable drive which eliminates issues associated with traditional flexible sludge hoses, such as hang-ups and priming problems.
  • Scrapers attached to header pipes move along the basin floor, collecting settled sludge.
  • Patented orifice blocks on the header pipes remove settled solids more efficiently than traditional systems by allowing higher percent solids removal, reducing water waste.

Sludge Removal

  • The collected sludge is conveyed to a central discharge point through a controlled and balanced flow, ensuring consistent and even removal.
  • The patented Flow Balancing Ring ensures equal flow from each header pipe, maintaining optimal operation in long basins.
